REVEREND DR. HOWARD MIDDLEBROOKS, SR.

Howard Middlebrooks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama to the late Mary A. Middlebrooks (Primary Educator) and Harvey Middlebrooks (Hero).  At the age of two, his family moved to Buffalo, NY. He is the second of five children.  Three sisters and one brother, Jacqueline, Renita, Denise and Curtis all of Buffalo, NY. In addition to his Spiritual brother Pastor Gregory Arthur of El Paso, TX.

 

He graduated from Southside High School, Buffalo, NY in 1981. Shortly after graduation, he entered the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and received numerous awards and citations for his service.  He served as Radar Repairer, Patriot System Repairer/Master Instructor, Gulf War Veteran and mentor to his fellow service members, offering counseling and spiritual guidance when they faced difficult situations. After nearly 17 years of service, he took an early retirement from the Army in 1998.

 

Pastor Middlebrooks married the former Mattie M. Crum in 1983. They have two children, Howard Jr. and Hosea.  He holds a Doctor of Theology, Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Camilla, GA, Master Business Administration, Webster University, St Louis, MO, Master of Arts, Discipleship Ministries, Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA, Bachelors of Science Management, Park College, Parkville, MO, Associate of Applied Science, El Paso Community College, El Paso, TX, Associate Science, Park College, Parkville, MO. He has received certifications in Life Cycle Logistics, Systems Engineering and Program Management. He is currently employed at Redstone Arsenal, AL.

 

He heeded the call and acknowledged Jesus as savior at the age of 16. He accepted his call to the ministry in 1986.  On January 25, 1987, he received his license to preach at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Butzbach, Germany, under the tutelage of Pastor Richard S. Lewis, Jr. He was ordained at Community Baptist Church, EL Paso, TX under the guidance of Pastor Milton M. Walker in November 1992.

 

Pastor Middlebrooks is the former Pastor of the Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church, Decatur, AL, where he served from 2003-2013. For the past 4 years, Rev. Middlebrooks was an associate Minister of Progressive Union M.B. Church, serving in evangelism, assimilation and discipleship. In October 2018, God stirred the people’s heart and called him to Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church, Athens, AL.  He is eager and excited to assume the role of Pastor at Sweet Home, and to fulfil the vision that God has inspired within him.

 

Hobbies and pastimes that Pastor Middlebrooks enjoys include: reading, attending educational and spiritual classes, travelling, and he loves sports. He is an ardent Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Alabama Crimson Tide fan for life. His favorite scripture is “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” Psalm 119:18.
